Ride for Royston

August 1, 2012

This weekend our Rochester community is coming together for the Ride for Royston. As you remember cyclist Kevin Royston was riding his bike on a quiet country road, hit by a car and left for dead. The driver … left the scene. Thankfully someone eventually came along and helped Royston, who lost part of his left leg due to being assaulted by the car.

Dan Jareke of Nice Tri Multisport Coaching and Online Rentals and his team have put this event together, sponsored by Nu Look Collision and the Geneva Bicycle Center… to raise money in effort to offset the medical costs the Royston family is enduring.

This weekend he altered the routes so they ride by the site where Heather Boyum was killed. The Rochester Moms in Motion will be there to celebrate the life of their brightest star and to begin their healing process.

The website for Ride 4 Royston is here. Below are the quick details.

This is a time for us to come together as a community, show our support for our fallen athletes and begin the healing process. It’s also a time for us to come together and take back the roads that also belong to us. I wish we didn’t have to have these conversations and memorials and fundraisers right now. The truth of it all is that we shouldn’t be having these. These were not accidents. These were both preventable.

See you Saturday.
