It’s a MOvember to remember at QT2 Systems

November 10, 2012

I am a softie for two things: a challenge and cancer crusaders. Put those two together and you have me hook line and sinker (you had me at hello!) When some of the boys here at QT2 Systems decided to grow their staches in honor of the month of MOvember…. it got turned into a little challenge.

As you know the month Movember has replaced what we used to know as NOvember. Men all over the WORLD are growing their mustaches to raise awareness, support and money for prostate cancer. For more information click here.

Here at QT2 systems professional triathletes Doug MacLean and Logan Franks, along with our main bike shop FastSplits owner (and athlete) Brian Hughes are going head to head… or rather stache to stache…… to see who can grow the best one, have some fun in the process and raise a little coin for their charities of choice.

Here is how it will work, and fellow QT2 Systems athletes you may still join in as well. You must be one of our athletes and you must be coming to the Christmas Bash on Dec 15th in Boston. Let’s not forget that this is THE party of the year.

It all began with spirit glasses and one pink wine.

For the next three weeks you will have the chance to monitor the progress of our candidates. The last day of MOvember you will have the chance to vote right here and on Facebook for the winner. He who has the most votes wins!

Fastsplits will then make a donation to the charity of the winner’s choice!!!!! LOVE IT! A WIN WIN FOR ALL!!!

Thus far…… here are your candidates…… give them a follow on Twitter to monitor their progress too, click their names for their sites as well!!!!!

We’ve got ourselves a GAME HERE!!!!!

Prostate Cancer is the most common cause of death in men over 75 and rare in men under 40. Which is good, then your PSA screening should be nice and easy. Just because it’s rare doesn’t mean it can’t happen! I have seen more rare and unusual cases of cancer in age groups that it’s not supposed to happen in.

I love you guys and I want you to stay healthy too.

So here are some of the symptoms to always have on your radar (I got these from this site right here)

The PSA blood test is often done to screen men for prostate cancer. Because of PSA testing, most prostate cancers are now found before they cause any symptoms.

The symptoms listed below can occur with prostate cancer, usually at a late stage. These symptoms can also be caused by other prostate problems:

  • Delayed or slowed start of urinary stream
  • Dribbling or leakage of urine, most often after urinating
  • Slow urinary stream
  • Straining when urinating, or not being able to empty out all of the urine
  • Blood in the urine or semen
  • Bone pain or tenderness, most often in the lower back and pelvic bones (only when the cancer has spread)

Stay tuned to Facebook and Twitter (I am @maryeggers on Twitter) for updates and for voting. We will have an update right here next Saturday!
